Day Treatment Program

 

The Mission of East End Day Treatment Program is to provide a structured therapeutic environment for youth who are in need of mental health and educational services.

Program Purpose

The East End Day Treatment Program serves children and adolescents in grades 1-12. The Day Treatment Program serves to bridge the gap for students in need of mental health and educational services by providing both services in one setting. We offer an active comprehensive approach to treatment that provides the services needed to improve emotional, behavior, social and educational development of children and adolescent who need significant coping skills to appropriately function in their home, school and community. Our comprehensive approach emphasizes:

• Personal mastery over emotional and behavioral problems
• Acquisition of new personal, social and academic skills
• Awareness and appreciation of own culture as well as others
• Values clarification, coping skills, conflict resolution, building self-esteem, effective communication skills and anger management
• Opportunities for developing moral character, responsibility, respect, fairness, citizenship, trust and compassion

• Special Education classes in the morning
• Afternoon recreational, expressive, occupational and therapy groups
• Individual and family psychotherapy
• Individual Education Plan Coordination
• Individual Service Plan Coordination
• Crisis Intervention
• Psychiatric Evaluations
• Referral to other support agencies
• Parent Support and Education
• Breakfast and lunch provided

Eligibility Criteria

• Children and adolescents who have a mental, behavioral or emotional illness which result in significant functional impairments in major life activities
• Exhibit inappropriate behavior that repeatedly requires interventions by the mental health, social services or court-service unit
• Have deficits in social skills peer relations or difficulty dealing with authority. Exhibits hyperactivity, poor impulse control, extreme depression or marginally connected with reality
• Behavior and emotional problems which cannot be handled in self-contained or resource ED (Emotionally Disabled) classrooms without day treatment program during the school year
